For the second consecutive time, DFCLAM has been named a “Department of Excellence”. After receiving this recognition and related funding for the 2018-2022 period, the Department of Philology and Criticism of Ancient and Modern Literature at the University of Siena was selected by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) from among 180 departments (out of more than 800) to receive Excellence funding.
This recognition will enable the department to substantially develop its teaching and research activities. The funding will allow the department to hire new professors, researchers, and technicians; organize seminars and conferences; and make significant investments in teaching, student services, and internationalization. These investments include inviting renowned professors from foreign universities, funding ten doctoral scholarships over the five-year period, and providing financial support for student mobility.
In this round, two departments were recognized as Departments of Excellence at the University of Siena: DFCLAM and DSSBC, both heirs to the two glorious Faculties of Letters of Siena and Arezzo. This confirms that the humanities at the University of Siena have a vitality and innovative capacity recognized nationally and internationally.
