PH.D. IN PHILOLOGY AND CRITICISM
This program focuses on the philological and literary study of the medieval and modern European tradition and consists of three curricula:
Curriculum in Medieval Philology. Established in 2023, this curriculum continues the tradition of the “Romance Philology” program within the same PhD program. The Faculty Board includes scholars from various Italian and foreign institutions, including through agreements with the Universities of Paris IV-Sorbonne, Santiago de Compostela, and Collège de France.
Curriculum in Modern Literature. This curriculum brings together two important traditions of study at the University of Siena that previously collaborated closely in the former Doctoral School in Interpretation.
Curriculum in Anthropology of the Ancient World. Established in 2023, it continues the experience of the curriculum that until 2022 was part of the Doctorate in “Ancient Sciences and Archaeology” at the University of Pisa.
